I'm Running For Democratic National Convention Delegate In WA 7th CD - Here Is A list Of The Experience That Should Qualify Or Perhaps Not Qualify Me For The Position

Here is the list of my experience, and other random observations formatted in a flow of consciousness style.   
  • Glenn Beck recently called me a 'Communist' on his internet based show, which is probably enough of a reason to vote for me already.
  • I'm not a communist even if Glenn Beck says I am.
  • If you ask me what my main occupation is now, I'd answer, I'm an 'artist and theater producer'.
  • I'm 65 years of age.
  • I have a good sense of humor.
  • I don't agree with everything President Obama has done during his first term, but whole-heartedly support his reelection.
  • I've been the elected Democratic Party PCO for Carpenter Precinct on Vashon Island for over three years. 
  • I worked as a local union business agent and organizer for the Office Workers Union Local 8 and later was the shop steward for the Teamsters Union while employed by the City Of Seattle. I was elected a delegate to the Teamster International Union Convention during the time I was a shop steward for the union.
  • My daughter, Alexa D O'Brien was one of 7 plaintiffs (The Freedom 7) who recently sued the President and the US government over certain provisions of the NDAA in Federal court. The result was that the federal judge who heard the case issued an injunction effectively blocking the implementation of certain provisions of the law dealing with unwarranted arrest and detention of American citizens. 
  • I believe in single payor universal healthcare. I presently receive my healthcare through the VA system.
  • I love the Washington State Ferry System and believe it must be improved and protected from unnecessary cost cutting (It's part of the Highway system people).
  • I am against war and believe we should withdraw from Afganistan and cut the defense budget.
  • I'm a cancer survivor. (Thank you VA)
  • I organized and help facilitate the first Occupy Seattle protest in Seattle on September 17th, 2011.
  • My father, MacAllister O'Brien, led the Machinist Union organizational drive in the late forties that resulted in the Boeing Machinists being represented by a union today.
  • I helped put together a class action lawsuit that resulted in 20,000 United Mine Workers receiving pensions they had been denied by their union.
  • I'm a Washington State Native, born in Seattle. My grandmother was a pioneer to the Washington territory prior to statehood. 
  • In 2008 I worked to elect Obama and travelled to 4 states spending over $2000 of my own money.
  • I would like people in the Occupy movement to 'occupy political office' and the Democratic Party.
  • I'm nonviolent and oppose the use of violence for any reason. 
  • I've been a blogger for 6 years. My blog has approximately 3000 readers each month. 
  • I've been active in Democratic Party politics for my entire life.
  • I don't eat meat.
  • I don't wear ties.
  • I organized a citizens based community group on Vashon Island that successfully helped fight crime on the Island.
  • I dropped out of high school in 1964, but later earned a GED certificate.
  • I have two beautiful college educated daughters.  
  • I have an animal loving girlfriend who is really nice.
  • I live on a island.
  • I know I'd make a great delegate.
  • I'm a very effective organizer.
  • My great grandfather 'Telephone Jack O'Brien' help found the Communication Workers Of America (the phone company union).
  • My father was a veteran of the First World War and fought and was wounded in France in 1918 when he was 18 years old.
  • My brother was the State Representative from the 1st Legislative District for over 10 years, (Al O'Brien Jr.) He was also a Seattle Police Sargent with 30 years of service and a combat Marine who served in Viet Nam.
  • My mother, who was born in Washington State, worked for over 50 years in the nursing profession. 
  • My mother is 95 years old and still lives in her home on Queen Anne Hill and likes to swear at John McCain, and Mitt Romney whenever she see them on TV, that is when she's not watching Judge Judy.
  • I retired after working for over 20 years at the City of Seattle as a Municipal Court Clerk. I live on my pension and social security.
  • I own 2 rental properties (small business person).
  • I don't drink or take drugs but don't care if you do.
  • I have smoked marijuana during my life and I inhaled. 
  • I helped create the largest Comedy Variete Festival in the world, The Moisture Festival.
  • I will not except or accept political donations. 
  • I support a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United and 'corporate personhood'.
  • My Daughter Alexa was one of the founders of an organization (USDay Of Rage) that created the Occupy Wall Street Movement. The main goal of USDOR is to remove the influence of money in our political system.
  • I repeat, I am not a communist even if Glenn Beck says so. 
  • I owned my own business for several years.
  • I support gay marriage and don't think it's the government's business what we do in the bedroom or most other places.
  • I miss Christopher Hitchens.
  • I believe strongly in the principle of the separation of church and state.
  • I think high fructose corn syrup is perhaps worse than terrorism.
  • I think animals should be protected.
  • I think we need stimulus instead of austerity.
  • I support women's rights, including the right to choose.
  • I'm a Teamster in good standing.
  • I draw pictures and make posters that Glenn Beck hates. (see above)
  • I know how to ice skate.
  • I am a founder of the theater troupe "The Royal Famille duCanvieux". Now in it's thirty-fifth year. The Troupe helped inspire the creation of Seattle's annual Moisture Festival and the Fremont Solstice Parade. 
  • I was the equipment manager for rhe Seattle Totems professional hockey team for 5 years.
  • I'm a Vietnam era, honorably discharged veteran who joined the army when I was 18 years of age in 1965. I served as an army medic and was discharged at the rank of Specialist 5th Class.
  • I was the 'bubbleator' operator at the Seattle Center Food Circus.
  • I worked at the Seattle World's Fair in 1962 when I was 15 years old.
  • I was the KISW Duck mascot for that radio station for 3 year in the late seventies.
  • I once met 'Tricky Dick' Nixon.
  • I was one of the founders of the local tabloid known as 'The Rocket Magazine'.
  • I appreciate that people are different. In fact I like them to be different.
  • I lived in Europe for several years in Spain, France and Germany.
  • I think Marijuana possession and use should be legal, and the sale taxed.
  • I've had hundreds of working class jobs during my life, including but not limited to: lumber jack, antique store owner, promoter, public relations consultant, press secretary, actor, writer, airline baggage handler, ironworker, fisherman, common laborer. waiter, and bartender.

  1. "I think high fructose corn syrup is perhaps worse than terrorism." I agree with you. But, I think FDA is the real cause in what was happening today. They have the authority to stop these companies not to use fructose instead they choose to be blind in what they hear and read. They just don't listen to the people who are telling the truth.
